Apartment living sets you free of do-things-thyself anxieties to the great feeling of have-things-done-for-you. Yet, it can be a tad difficult when it comes to enhancing the interior or the decor such as colour washing, hanging pictures or a layout change as there are guidelines on interior changes and decor given by the building company. However, there are diverse ways of improving the look and feel of your abode while adhering to guidelines. Find below some ideas on how to do this creatively.
Use Mirrors
Yes, mirrors can be used to admire yourself in your bedroom or to check your make-up just before you leave home. However, mirrors are also remarkable accessories to liven up rooms as they make smaller spaces seem bigger due to the reflective nature of the glass.
Hang a couple of mirrors of varying sizes around your apartment to create a feeling of enhanced space, if the mirrors cannot be always hung up based on apartment guidelines, you can use stand-up mirrors to have them set in corners to get this effect.
Use multi-duty Furniture
Apartment living can mean your internal space is more confined and even if you want to add a few shelves in your bedroom the guidelines don’t permit it etc. This can be overcome by using furniture that can be used in different ways, such as providing storage space or serving another purpose etc. as frequently done by would-be apartment dwellers when they inspect apartments for sale in Sri Lanka.
A divan in your bedroom can come with compartments to store things like albums, your favourite bedtime reading and so on, a nightstand can come with drawers for medication and other essentials for the night.

Innovate with lighting
An often unrealised aspect making a difference in any apartment is the lighting factor. Whether the apartment has a lot of natural light streaming in or otherwise you can certainly make a statement of your preferred style with innovative lighting.

Bring life to your kitchen - Get a few kitchen appliances which can be displayed to add elegance and life to the kitchen such as wooden cutting boards which can be placed on the counter, and condiment jars with colourful lids and pretty tea towels and potholders. Define a new area - If you have a large living area define a separation making it two distinct ones by using dividers. These can be colourful rugs or a room divider which can be folded away if you want more space later.
Display family photos – Add a homely touch by positioning some framed photos on a window ledge or the media console.
Embrace plants – Plants offer a softness to the interior which is hard to replace. Have a few potted plants indoors even though you may not have green fingers. A couple of plants needing a little attention are ideal to add that special aura in a cosy corner.
